Biographical note for Floyd T. Baker

Floyd T. Baker enlisted in the Cedar Rapids, Linn County, Iowa 126th First Field Artillery, Battery E., 34th Red Bull Division which was organized in April 1917. The 200 Soldiers were mustered in on July 1,1917 in Green Square Park in downtown Cedar Rapids, Linn County, Iowa.

A Panoramic picture was taken by Baldridge Photography. Twelve individual pictures of smaller groups was also taken at that time. On September 25, 1917 all of the men left by train for Camp Cody. Floyd told his family that when they got off the train at Deming New Mexico they marched a few miles and then were told "This is Camp Cody". He said all they could see was sand and cactus. They were told to start "digging latrines".
